"POOP, you have proven yourself a great leader
and warrior."
-Dragon Master-
So I beat Dragon Warrior 4 today, in case anyone didn't get that by all
the crazy quotes and such from the link and header. Here's the thing,
though...
In all the other DW games, there was some sort of reference to this world
called "Alefgard". This one, sadly, had none of that. I mean, don't get
me wrong, it was a cool game, and definitely a great waste of my time, but
somehow just a little unsatisfying.
Also, I didn't get to be a descendent of the line of Erdrick. That, in
and of itself, sucked. I mean, I've kicked the asses of so many badguys
with the same weapons and armor, that it's beome a time-wasting
tradition... ah well... enough nay-saying.
The game was really good in the fact that it walked you through pretty
much everything you had to do without the aid of cheats from the internet.
Furthermore, you got 8 characters instead of 1, 3, or 4 in the first three
games. Also, each of the characters had pretty much interchangeable
weapons, armor, and spells within their respective classes. Finally, the
last battle was friggin EPIC. I mean, seriously, the guy just didn't
quit. The other games, I got there all worried, and then he was all
weak. I was like, "What, that's all you've got for me?" This one
leveled almost all of my characters. (The first time he actually wiped
out all 8... but that's what save/restore is all about)
In any case, I'd have to say I give this game a solid 3.5 stars out of 5.
The graphics were the same as in all the old games, the programming was
WAY better, but the story just didn't work for what I've come to expect
from the great DW series.
That's about all I have to say now, since I've been doing nothing really
besides going to class, and then playing this game since the last update.
Now that I'm done, maybe I'll finish posting the rest of those pictures.
We'll see. Until then...
